Local non-profit organization, Elevate Aviation, to host a grand opening event for their Elevate Aviation Learning Centre located at the Edmonton International Airport
EDMONTON, January 11, 2023 –Elevate Aviation is excited to announce the grand opening of the new Elevate Aviation Learning Centre location! The event will take place on January 13, 2023 from 2-4pm at the Learning Centre.
Elevate Aviation is a non-profit organization with a wide variety of programs for women and underrepresented groups to thrive and succeed through careers in aviation. The Elevate Aviation Learning Centre offers a unique approach to awareness and training in the aviation and aerospace industry. The Learning Centre currently has four main programs, all targeted towards different stages of life and careers.
“Our Learning Centre has a kindergarten to career approach,” said Nova Andrews, Director of the Elevate Aviation Learning Centre “We have a number of programs in place for kids and women of all ages to discover aviation and learn the skills needed to be successful in the industry.”
The Learning Centre is currently hosting its Women’s Employment Skills Training (WEST) program, funded by the Government of Canada’s Women’s Employment Readiness Pilot Program. WEST is a 9 week, fully funded program for women to build their skills, grow their confidence, and become prepared to work in today’s evolving aviation industry. The program is for all women and women identifying groups looking for a safe space to learn.

The Learning Centre’s grand opening event will welcome guests into the facility to learn about the programs and celebrate this huge milestone with Elevate Aviation.

The Elevate Aviation Learning Centre – The Elevate Aviation Learning Centre hosts a variety of programs for all ages. Junior Jets is an introduction to aviation program for kids ages 5-10, ACE is an Aviation Career Exploration program targeted to youth and women to discover aviation careers, and Elevate U has professional development encouraging women into leadership roles. A new program called “Women’s Employment Skills Training” (WEST) offering a 9 week skills training for career ready women and introduction to aviation courses launched in summer 2022.
Cross-Country Tour – Annual cross-country tours allow attendees to spend the day with women in the industry, hear inspirational stories of their journeys into aviation and visit their workplaces to see firsthand why they love their jobs. What started as a day for 20 young women in Edmonton, has now expanded to 20 cities nationwide, connecting with over 1,500 women and girls nationwide. In 2021 this will be transformed into a virtual tour.
Speaking Engagements – Elevate Aviation provides inspirational speakers across Canada to visit schools, Indigenous communities, career fairs and organizations to share the world of aviation and spark interest in the industry.
Mentorship Program – Elevate Aviation’s Flight Path to Success is a five-stage mentorship program that connects motivated women with successful women already in the field. This proven approach to drive rich learning and development enables women to achieve their desired level of success.
Bursaries – Women in Canada who show exceptional potential and require financial assistance throughout training are eligible for our bursaries. Since 2015 we have awarded over $50,000.
